It began as a simple idea: what if the way we support children’s emotional growth could feel just as magical as it is meaningful?

It began as a simple idea: what if the way we support children’s emotional growth could feel just as magical as it is meaningful?
By day, I’ve spent over a decade working as a researcher and social worker, supporting teams who design programs for children and families. My work focuses on helping intervention developers translate the latest behavioral science into real-world experiences that support healthy, fulfilling lives.
But alongside that work, I’ve always loved stories: reading them, writing them, and getting lost in them.
Through my work, I came to understand that stories are not just entertaining. They are powerful tools for helping us reimagine who we are and what’s possible for us. Experiencing that firsthand gave me the permission to fully step into storytelling as a way to translate the ideas I was learning into something children can feel, explore, and carry with them.
Stories give children a way to fully immerse themselves in something, not just understand it.
At home, I’m constantly reading with my two children, watching how they connect to characters, ideas, and emotions through imagination. We also share our home with a dog, and we’re currently hoping to welcome two kittens into the mix soon.
The Maurepas Magic Schoolhouse grew out of this intersection. It’s a place where science meets story, and where learning becomes something children and caregivers can experience with curiosity, wonder, and joy.
